Meridiana Advisory was founded by José G. Cañas, CFA, an investment professional with more than 20 years of experience managing institutional and high-net-worth client portfolios in the United States and Latin America.
Throughout his career, he has led the discretionary management of multi-asset and absolute-return strategies, with responsibility for mandates exceeding $1.5 billion in assets under management. His experience includes asset allocation, credit analysis, integration of alternative investments and oversight of complex portfolios across different market cycles.
He served for more than a decade as Senior Portfolio Manager at a Swiss private bank, managing discretionary portfolios for UHNW clients across the Americas, and previously was Chief Investment Officer of a boutique Registered Investment Advisor, where he led investment strategy and institutional portfolio oversight.
He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation from the CFA Institute. He earned an MBA in Finance and Corporate Accounting from the University of Rochester and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra.
His approach is defined by an independent perspective, discipline in asset allocation, and an emphasis on liquidity, transparency and rigorous risk management—principles that underpin the Meridiana Advisory proposition.
